NEWSWORTHY NOTES
• BUSY WEEKEND:
It will surely be a busy weekend for Concordia Wisconsin, as they'll compete in four matches. In all, there will be six matches played inside the R. John Buuck Field House from Friday night to Saturday afternooon, with all being non-conference contests.
• SETTLE IN: Most times a new program will hit the road for most of its matches, but that isn't the case for Concordia Wisconsin this season. They have nine home matches of the first 12 and overall 14 home matches on the schedule, including three dates of triangulars.
•  SCOUTING MARANATHA BAPTIST: Maranatha Baptist is entering its first year competition as a NCAA Division III member after competing as a club team during the 2017 season. The Sabercats have 13 players on the roster and are led by head coach Torey Rosen.
• SCOUTING OLIVET: Olivet enters its third year of competition in 2018 after going 2-19 during its inaugural season in 2016 and 3-21 last year. Trent Robinson returns to the Comets lineup after smashing 201 kills a season ago, while Brock Pringle had 131 kills, 120 digs and 35 total blocks.
• SCOUTING GREENVILLE: Greenville also enters its third year as a program in 2018, but with more success to begin. The Panthers have amassed 23 wins during their first two years of play. Tanner Smith returns to direct the offense after accumulating 862 assists last season, while Johnny Malibu had 67 total blocks.
• SCOUTING ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY: Illinois Institute of Technology has improved from its first season in 2016 when it won one match to taking six matches last year. The Scarlet Hawks have played three times this season, losing each match, but pushed Cal Lutheran to five sets last Saturday.
