FOND DU LAC, Wis. – For the first time in program history, the Falcons are NCHA North Division champions. The Falcons claimed the crown with a 3-1 victory at Marian. The victory sends CUW to 6-1-0 in the NCHA North with 18 points.

The Falcons struck early off the stick of junior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) on Friday 1:33 into the game with assists to senior Cole Pickup (Victoria, B.C.) and junior Brandon MacKinnon (Etobicoke, Ont.).

The Sabres tied the game two minutes later.

Junior Bo Didur (West Vancouver, B.C.) and the CUW defense did not allow another goal the rest of the evening.

Senior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.) scored the game-winning goal in the second period off passes from junior Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and junior Cory Dennis (Madison, Wis.).

Brandon MacKinnon secured the game with an empty-net goal with an assist to Cole Pickup.

Didur collected 23 saves in the victory.

The Falcons held a 25-24 shots advantage on Friday.

CUW will go for the sweep on Saturday evening.
