Raiders retain the Lake Michigan Cup

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's hockey team couldn't hold onto an early lead on Saturday night and MSOE held onto the Lake Michigan Cup with a 7-2 victory. MSOE improves to 2-0-0 in the year as CUW moves to 0-4-0.

Sophomore Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) started the Saturday scoring six minutes into the game off assists from senior Nick Guiney (Victoria, B.C.) and senior Nick Guerra (Victoria, B.C.).

The Falcons struck again on the power play off the stick of freshman Michael Makarenko (Calgary, Alta.). Sophomore Brandon Picard and junior Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) were credited with the assists.

The Raiders closed the game on a 7-0 run to secure the victory.

Freshman Liam McGarva (Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.) made 39 saves in his Concordia debut. Freshman Riley Morgan (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also collected a save in the third period.

The Raiders held a 47-30 shots advantage on Saturday.

The Falcons are back in action on Thursday at Trine.
