MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The CUW field hockey team fell short in an SAA contest at Rhodes on Saturday. The Lynx bit the Falcons to send CUW to 7-9 and 2-2 in the SAA.
The Lynx to a 2-0 lead into halftime with goals in the first and second quarters.
Junior AnnaLyssia Abela (Dearborn, Mich.) scored in the fourth quarter on a penalty corner from sophomore Abby McGue (St. Louis, Mo.) that connected with junior Olivia Riemer (Ballwin, Mo.).
The Lynx outshot the Falcons on Saturday, 24-3. AnnaLyssia Abela, junior Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) and sophomore Alex Klamm all finished with a shot.
Junior Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) had 10 saves on Saturday.
The loss locks CUW into the No. 3 seed in the SAA Tournament.
The Falcons will take on the Lynx on Sunday for the second game of the weekend.
