Falcons Sting Transylvania on Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW field hockey team celebrated senior day on Sunday with a 6-0 victory over Transylvania. The victory pushes CUW to 6-7 on the season.

Junior Olivia Riemer (Ballwin, Mo.) scored her first collegiate goal as she blasted the first goal of the game in the first quarter from 15 yards out.

Freshman Paige Armijo (Reseda, Calif.) deflected in a shot from Olivia Riemer to close the first-quarter scoring.

Sophomore Abby McGue (St. Louis, Mo.) tapped the ball in the back of the cage as time expired in the first half for her first collegiate goal. Renee Lund added the assist on the goal.

Junior Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) slammed in a corner from Abby McGue to start the second-half scoring.

Paige Armijo struck again in the 52nd minute, off assists from Audrey Stone and Lorri Pitock.

AnnaLyssia Abele (Dearborn, Mich.) scored for the second-straight day on a corner from Abby McGue and a pass from Olivia Riemer.

The CUW defense did a good job of keeping the Transylvania offense wrapped up and held Transylvania to five shots.

Junior Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) had four saves in her fifth shutout of the season.

The Falcons have posted back-to-back shutouts for the third time in program history and for the first time since 2019.

CUW finished the day with 21 shots, led by Lorri Pitock with six. Paige Armijo led all players with three shots on goal.

The Falcons celebrated senior Mallory Gurin (Westfield, Ind.) on Sunday on senior day.

CUW will play at Neumann on Friday afternoon.
