ACHA’s Comeback Against Indiana Falls Short

MEQUON, Wis. - In part two of their weekend series against the Hoosiers of Indiana, CUW's ACHA hockey team fell 4-3 on Saturday.

The Hoosiers came out firing and took the 3-0 lead after one period of play.

In the second period, junior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) scored his first goal of the season off the pass from freshman Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) to cut Indiana's lead to 3-1.

Three minutes later, the Hoosiers responded with a power-play goal to reassert their three-goal margin.

With less than a minute remaining in the second period, senior Nick Roberts (Milwaukee, Wis.) found fellow senior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) for the Blue and White's second goal of the game.

At the end of two periods, the Hosiers held a 4-2 lead.

Determined to make the comeback, the Falcons ripped another shot past Indiana's goaltender to cut the deficit to just one. On that goal, senior John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) dumped it off to Chuck Emme with 6:36 remaining in the third period.

Despite their efforts, the IU defense was able to hold CUW scoreless for the rest of the third period and escape the Ozaukee Ice Center with the 4-3 win over the Falcons.

In the loss, senior goaltender Vincent Falcone (Elgin, Ill.) totaled 38 saves. On the offensive side, junior Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.) and Easton Williams led the Blue and White with two shots each. Williams also won nine of 14 faceoffs.

In total, the Hoosiers outshot the Falcons 42-13.

The Falcons will resume regular season action on Oct. 5 when they travel north to Sault College.
