ACHA Hockey Mauls Marquette

BROOKFIELD, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin ACHA men's hockey team posted a convincing victory over Marquette late on Friday night to open Northern Collegiate Hockey League play. The Falcons posted an 8-5 victory to improve to 4-2-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in the NCHL.

The Golden Eagles struck first with a goal in the first five minutes off a rebound.

Five minutes later, junior Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) was set up right in front of the net and scored off a pass from senior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.).

Junior Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) then lit the lamp with a shot from the point after he took the puck into the zone off a pass from senior John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.). Freshman Jaxson Hill had the secondary assist.

The Falcons struck again with a short-handed goal on a breakaway from senior Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.).

The Golden Eagles responded with a power play goal with 4:27 left in the opening period.

Ian Malcolmson started the second-period scoring with a power play goal from the left circle off passes from Garrett Wilderman and freshman Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.).

Senior Nick Roberts (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored after he set up shop in front of the net after a pass from behind the net from Easton Williams as 4 kept it in the zone. 635

The Falcons then marched down the ice and Chuck Emme lit the lamp off assists from Ian Malcolmson and Garrett Wilderman.

Marquette closed the second-period scoring with a power play goal.

Freshman Michael Sobczak (Wood Dale, Ill.) started the scoring for the Falcons to open the third period with his first collegiate goal with a shot from the slot.

After a Marquette goal, Garrett Wilderman struck again with a shot from the blue line off a pass from Chuck Emme on the power play.  

Marquette closed the scoring with a late power-play-goal

Senior Ian Robertson (Calgary, Alta.) collected the win in net with 24 saves.

The Falcons look to complete the weekend sweep on Saturday night when they pink the rink.
