Women's Lacrosse season ends in NCAA Tournament

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin's outstaning season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 17-6 defeat at Augustana in the NCAA Tournament at Thorson Lucken Field. The Falcons end the year with a program record 15 victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons struck first with a Christina Pattegale score less than four minutes into the game, which was assisted by Sabrina Boehlke. However, the Vikings answered with three unanswered goals to own a 3-1 lead before CUW score for the final time in the opening half with 9:33 to play.
- Augustana piled on six goals over the remaining eight minutes and 33 seconds of the first half to lead 9-2 at the break. During the scoring outbreak, Kaylee Nolan had a trio of goals.
- Allison Kurek scored back-to-back markers early in the second half and Lauren Paquin scored her second tally of the game with 14:12 to play. Pattengale found the back of the net for her second goal with 4:31 to play, but the host Vikings were just too much in the NCAA Tournament matchup.
- The Vikings held differences in shots (35-18), shots on goal (31-13), ground balls (23-14) and draw controls (19-6). The hosts also forced 24 turnovers, of which 11 were caused.
- Kurek (sophomore, Chicago, Ill.), Paquin (freshman, Waukesha, Wis.) and Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) also had two goals for the Falcons.
- Boehlke (senior, Random Lake, Wis.) and Paquin also each recorded an assist.
- Senior Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.) and Boehlke each had a team-high-tying four ground balls, while Pauletti caused a pair of turnovers.
- Junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made 14 saves in a complete game effort.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- It was the second-consecutive year the Falcons earned the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and traveled to Augustana.
- The Falcons ended the season with a 15-3 overall record and the 15 victories set a program single season record.
- CUW concluded the year with the program's season record for caused turnovers (296) and goals against average (7.94).
- Metanova's 14 saves were tied for the seventh most in a game in program history. She also set the program's goalkeeping record for single season wins (15).
- Kurek finished the year owning the program's season record for ground balls (91), caused turnovers (65) and game-winning goals (5).
- Pauletti ends her career ranking second all-time in program history with 68 games played, third caused turnovers (81) and fifth in ground balls (130).
- Boehlke leaves the program as the all-time leader in games played (69), tied for first in game-winning goals (6), third in ground balls (160), fourth in free-position goals (12), fifth in draw controls (107) and sixth in caused turnovers (59).
- Senior Paige Cowgill (Glenview, Ill.) ends her four-year career ranked tied for seventh in games played (52), while senior Nina Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.) played just this season and was sixth all-time in program history for a season with 29 caused turnovers.

THE OPPOSITION
- Kaylee Nolan led all scorers with six goals, including five in the first half, while Anne Hopkins tallied for markers. Kendall Maduro and Olivia Mayer each scored twice.
- Emily Handrahan assisted on five goals, while four of her teammates recorded two goals apiece.
- Nolan won a game-best 14 draw controls.
- Mayer picked up five ground balls and three Vikings caused a pair of turnovers.
- Jenna Hofmann played 17:02 in relief in goal during the second half and made five saves.
