Women's Lacrosse drops regular season finale to Colorado College

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Colorado College scored often and limited Concordia Wisconsin in many aspects during a 24-6 non-conference victory on Saturday afternoon at Thorson-Lucken Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado College score just over 30 seconds into the game and added streaks of five and four goals in a row to own a commanding 12-3 advantage with seven minutes to play before halftime.
- The Tigers led 14-4 at the break and continued to find the back of the net for the non-conference victory between the two teams ranked fifth and sixth, respectively, in the latest NCAA West Regional rankings.
- CUW struggled on both sides of the ball, committing a program-worst 30 turnovers (24 caused by the Tigers) and getting outshot 47-12 in the defeat. Colorado College held a 25-6 difference in draw control wins and limited the Falcons to 10-of-28 on clear attempts.
- Senior Sabrina Boehlke (Random Lake, Wis.) had a team-high two goals, while four of her teammates scored once. Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) recorded three ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers.
- Junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made 13 saves and picked up five ground balls during a complete game effort.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kurek set the program's single season record for ground balls and now has 85 this season.
- The Falcons lost snapped their eight-game winning streak, which is the longest in program history.

THE OPPOSITION
- Steph Kelly led all players with 10 points (six goals, four assists), while Mary Tasussig and Lily Benjamin each had five goals apiece, respectively. Sadie Cole also recorded a hat trick and five other Tigers found the back of the net once.
- Taussig led her team with four ground balls, while Kelly won a game-best 11 draw controls.
- Marth Smith had to make just one save in a complete game victory.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons host the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament on Friday and Saturday as the league's top seed. Their opponent for Friday's 1 pm semifinal game is still to be determined and will be announced at CUWFalcons.com.
