Falcons extend home winning streak on Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin scored seven unanswered goals en route to a 12-7 victory over Benedictine on Senior Day at Fitting Field. The Falcons extended their program-record home winning streak to 13 games on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons built a 5-1 advantage midway through the opening half, but the Eagles responded with four unanswered goals to knot the scoreboard at 5-5 with eight minutes to play before halftime.
- CUW answered with seven-consecutive markers to take all the momentum and own a 12-5 lead with seven minutes left in the game. Benedictine added a pair of goals in the last 1:20 of the contest, but it was too late.
- The Falcons owned a 22-16 difference in ground balls and a 30-18 shots difference (19-13) on goal, but many of the statistics in the box score were even. They also cleared 14-of-18 attempts in the victory and caused 17 turnovers.
- Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) finished the contest with a career-high-tying six goals (two free-position), eight ground balls, three draw controls and four caused turnovers. Freshman Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) recorded two goals and two assists, while senior Sabrina Boehlke (Kewaskum, Wis.) had a pair of goals and an assist.
- Senior Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.) led the defensive efforts with a career-best four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Senior Nina Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.) led all players with a career-high five caused turnovers.
- Junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made six saves in a complete game winning effort between the pipes.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons extended their program-record home winning streak to 13-straight and haven't lost at Fitting Field since March 14 of last season.
- CUW is the last undefeated team in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference.
- Kurek's six goals are tied for the sixth most in a single game in program history, while her eight ground balls are tied for the fifth most.
- Puch's five caused turnovers are tied for the sixth most in a game in program history.

THE OPPOSITION
- Samantha Link and Becca Gullett each had a pair of goals to lead the Eagles, while three of their teammates each scored once.
- Gullett also recorded four ground balls, four draw control wins and a caused turnover. Ella Campbell also caused a pair of turnovers.
- Hannah Smith saved seven shot attempts in goal during a complete game losing effort.
