Falcons clinch share of MWLC regular season title

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Concordia Wisconsin scored 12 unanswered goals to run away during a commanding 21-6 victory at Cornell to claim a share of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference regular season title. The Falcons are the only unbeaten team in the league and can win the title outright for the second-straight year with a victory on Wednesday over Beloit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored less than 20 seconds into the game against the short-handed Rams, but only led 6-3 with just under 18 minutes to play before halftime. The visitors then flipped the offensive switch and scored 12-unanswered goals over the next 29-plus minutes of action to own a commanding 18-3 lead.
- CUW again flexed its muscle and forced 34 turnovers, of which 16 were caused, and outshot Cornell 38-11 (32-8 on goal). They also held a 44-22 advantage in ground balls, won 18-of-27 draw controls and cleared 13-of-14 attempts.
- Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) led all players with five goals, to go along with an assist, six ground balls and three draw controls.
- Senior Sabrina Boehlke (Random Lake, Wis.), sophomore Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) and freshman Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) each registered a hat trick. Freshman Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) added a pair of goals and five of her teammates found the back of the net once.
- Senior Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.) and freshman Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) had picked up a game-high seven ground balls, while Boehlke won eight draw controls. Sophomore Anna Modrich (Franklin Park, Ill.) caused a team-best three turnovers.
- Junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made two saves during a complete game winning effort.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons have led wire-to-wire in six-consecutive games dating back to March 31.
- CUW's 21 goals were tied for the fifth most in a game in program history, while its 44 ground balls were one shy of tying the program record.
- Pauletti and Woodman's seven ground balls were each a career-best and tied for the 10th most in a game in program history.
- Boehlke's eight draw controls were a career-high and tied for the eighth most in a game in program history.
- Henry recorded a career-best four points, which included a hat trick.
- Freshman Victoria Dahl (Stillwater, Minn.) caused a career-best two turnovers, Kennedy tied a career-high with two goals and Modrich finished with career-bests in ground balls (four) and caused turnovers (three).
- Freshman Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) tied her career-high with two caused turnovers.
- Senior Nina Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.) scored the first goal of her career with 24 seconds left in the game.

THE OPPOSITION
- Nalani Amsden and Caitlyn St. Marie each had a pair of goals for the Rams, while Emily Whitfield and Sydney Cooper each scored a marker. Cooper also assisted on a score.
- St. Marie led the team with four ground balls, while Isis Collier had a game-best six caused turnovers.
- Dana Kuenzi made 11 saves in goal, including 10 in the first half.
