Kurek, Paquin lead Women’s Lacrosse past Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa – Allison Kurek and Lauren Paquin scored a combined nine goals during Concordia Wisconsin's 16-4 victory at Wartburg on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons are one Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference victory shy of earning a share of the regular season title.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) recorded a hat trick in the first seven minutes of the game to give the Falcons a quick 3-1 advantage. Sophomore Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) scored back-to-back goals just 23 seconds apart to push the lead to four goals less than 10 minutes into the game.
- Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) got into the action and tallied all five of her goals in the remainder of the first half and senior Sabrina Boehlke (Random Lake, Wis.) got into the action with a pair of goals, as CUW ran out to a 13-3 difference by halftime.
- The Falcons' senior Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.) tallied a pair of goals during the second half and freshman Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) found the back of the net to keep the visitors undefeated in league play.
- CUW outshot Wartburg 31-12 in the victory, including 22-9 on goal and caused 21 turnovers. They also scored three free-position markers and cleared 13-of-17 attempts.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With a Falcons victory on Sunday at Cornell they will clinch at least a share of the MWLC regular season title. They won the MWLC regular season title last with an undefeated record.
- CUW's 21 caused turnovers is tied for the third most in a game in program history.
- Pauletti scooped up a career-high-tying six ground balls and her two goals were a career best.
- Sophomore Kjerstin Saarela (Sun Praire, Wis.) and sophomore Anna Modrich (Franklin Park, Ill.) each had a career-high two caused turnovers.
- CUW hasn't trailed in a game since playing Carthage at home on March 30, which is the equivalent of 300 minutes and 26 seconds of action.

THE OPPOSITION
- Ashley Lahti led the Knights with two goals, while Julianna Koenig and Megan Howe each scored once.
- Lahti also had two ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
- Karolina Paulsen made six saves in a complete game losing effort.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons complete a two-game road trip on Sunday at Cornell with a 1 pm scheduled start.
