Women's Lacrosse captures MWLC Tournament Championship

MEQUON, Wis. – It was only a matter of time before Concordia Wisconsin held the MWLC Tournament Championship trophy high on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons blew the game wide open by scoring the game's final eight goals to earn their second-straight title with a 16-6 victory over Aurora at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin dominated the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference regular season and the story wasn't any different during the MWLC Tournament. The Falcons' offense flipped the switch in the second half and scored the game's final eight goals to win by double-digits for the eighth time this season.
- The Falcons outscored Benedictine and Aurora, both opponents in the MWLC Tournament, by a combined score of 29-5. They were the top seed in the postseason and rightfully so.
- Concordia Wisconsin's offense shined down the stretch, but its defense was unwavering throughout the victory. They caused 17 turnovers and limited Aurora to just 16 shots, including 13 on goal.
- Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) led all players with seven goals and five draw controls, to go along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Senior Sabrina Boehlke (Random Lake, Wis.) and freshman Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) each had four goals apiece, respectively, and freshman Victoria Dahl (Stillwater, Minn.) scored a goal of her own and assisted on a career-high two scores. - Boehlke also won four draw controls, while senior Nina Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.) finished with three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.
- Junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made seven saves, all in the second half, of a complete game winning effort.
- Concordia Wisconsin ended with a 41-16 shots advantage (30-13 on goal), 28-18 difference in ground balls, 15-5 lead in draw controls and scored three free-position markers.
