Falcons shutout Cougars in lopsided victory

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Concordia Wisconsin won its fifth-consecutive Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game on Saturday afternoon with an 18-0 decision at Concordia Chicago. The Falcons are the last remaining undefeated conference team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcon led 4-0 within the first four-and-a-half minutes and never looked back against the Cougars. They continued to score with ease and led 14-0 by halftime, with eight different players scoring by the intermission.
- CUW held a 49-24 advantage in ground balls, 16-4 difference in draw control wins and limited Concordia Chicago to just 7-of-32 on clear attempts. They also caused 17-of-31 turnovers.
- Sophomore Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) finished with four goals and three assists, to go along with career-highs in ground balls (14) and draw control wins (13). She also three caused turnovers.
- Senior Sabrina Boehlke (Kewaskum, Wis.) and sophomore Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) each recorded a hat trick, while freshman Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman Kristin Kennedy (London, Ontario) netted a pair of goals each. Meanwhile, four other Falcons scored once and three had one assist.
- Junior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made three saves in a complete game victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The shutout is just the second in program history. The Falcons blanked Benedictine 13-0 on the road last season.
- Kurek's 14 ground balls and 13 draw control wins were each program single game records.
- The Falcons 49 ground balls set the program's single game record.
- Freshman Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) had a career-high three ground balls.
- Senior Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.) set a career-high by scooping up eight ground balls and tying a career-best with three caused turnovers.
- Henry had a new career-high with six ground balls.

THE OPPOSITION
- Maggie Qualter picked up a team-best-tying six ground balls and caused four turnovers.
- Sonja Sorensen had six ground balls, while Melissa Franco made 15 saves and picked up five ground balls.
- Sydney Fuller caused three turnovers.

- The Falcons host Hamline in a week on Sunday, April 9 at 12 pm in a non-conference game.
