Volleyball selected to finish third in NACC Preseason Poll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's volleyball team was selected to finish third in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll, in a vote by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

CUW received 242 points in the poll and two first place votes. The Falcons only have one senior on the roster but return a lot of youthful talent who have high expectations for the upcoming campaign. Last season they finished with a 24-7 overall record and a 10-1 NACC record, which was good for a second place finish under second-year head coach Janelle Gabrielsen-Katz.

Dominican University stood atop the poll with 281 poll points and 17 first-place votes. Last season Dominican went a perfect 11-0 in NACC play (24-12 overall) and won the conference tournament for its third consecutive trip to the NCAA III Championship Tournament. Edgewood College had five first-place votes and 253 points for second place.

CUW begins its season on Sept. 1 with a non-conference road match against the University of Chicago at 7 p.m. They then compete against Concordia University Ann Arbor and Concordia University Chicago in the Concordia Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Sept. 5.

The Falcons home opener is a double header on Sept. 19 against Maranatha Baptist at 11 a.m. and then against Lake Forest at 3 p.m. inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

Teams in the NACC begin play Sept. 1, while the conference schedule starts on Sept. 15. The NACC Tournament takes place Nov. 3, 5 and 7, with the tournament champion receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
