Women’s Track & Field takes on Titan Challenge

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team was able to get in one last competition before the NACC Indoor Championships on Saturday. In a field filled with teams from NCAA Division II and III, the Falcons finished in 14th place with one point.

Sophomore Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) recorded the lone point of the day for CUW in the weight throw in eighth place at 14.65 meters. She also placed 24th in the shot put at 10.90 meters.

Sophomore Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) led the flock in 24th place in the 60-meter dash at 8.36. She also had the fastest-CUW time in the 200-meter dash at 28.41. The time is the fourth-fastest in program history.

The Falcons posted a back-to-back finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Irene Bolis (Marengo, Ill.) finished in 14th place at 9.90 and freshman Anastasia Hoeg (New Berlin, Wis.) was right behind at 9.92.

Junior Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) cleared 1.51 meters on the high jump in 12th place.

In the mile run, sophomore LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) clocked in at 6:01.98 in 31st place.

The Falcons placed 12th in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of senior Jennifer Miller (Freedom, Wis.), LaNea Bartel, senior Molly Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) and senior Morgan Marnholtz (Merrill, Wis.) clocked in at 4:33.20.

Morgan Marnholtz was able to reach 4.77 meters in the long jump in 24th place. In the triple jump, she hit 10.31 meters in 13th place

The Falcons will compete at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday.
