Women’s Track & Field competes at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team had a strong outing at the Carthage Tadd Metzger Invitational on Friday afternoon. The Falcons finished in eighth place out of 12 teams with 29.5 points.

The highest-Falcon finish of the day came at the shot put, where sophomore Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) recorded a second-place finish with a toss of 11.98 meters. She also finished in seventh place in the weight throw at 14.87 meters.

The Falcons had a strong outing in other field events; with junior Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) cleared 1.50 meters in the high jump. Veldhorst also recorded a ninth-place finish in the triple jump at 9.72 meters.

Senior Jennifer Miller (Freedom, Wis.) chalked-up a fifth-place finish at the pole vault, clearing 3.10 meters.

Sophomore Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) recorded a sixth-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles at 7.75. Sprinkman also finished in eighth place in the 200-meter dash at 28.43.

In the 1-mile run, senior Molly Wirtz (Stevens Point, Wis.) crossed the finish line at 5:33.49 in fifth place.

CUW had two athletes score in the 55-meter hurdles; freshman Anastasia Hoeg (New Berlin Wis.) led CUW in sixth place at 9.13, while senior Irene Bolis (Marengo, Ill.) checked in at eighth place at 9.51.

Freshman Mackenzie Dorth (West Bend, Wis.) led the flock of Falcons in the 3000-meter run in 15th place at 12:05.69.

Junior Kathryn Schultz (Fredonia, Wis.) led the Falcons in the 400-meter dash in 21st place at 1:14.47 and in the long jump in 22nd place at 4.18 meters.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Ripon Redhawk Invite.
