Women’s Track & Field takes 14th at Grand Valley

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The CUW women's track & field team opened up 2019 at the Grand Valley State Bob Eubanks Open. With a field filled with athletes from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Canada, the Falcons finished in 14th place with four points.

Sophomore Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) earned all four of the Falcons' points with a fifth-place finish in the weight throw. Curran's best mark of the day came at 15.25 meters.

The 60-meter hurdles saw Freshman Anastasia Hoeg (New Berlin, Wis.) tie the school record at 9.71.

Sophomore Megan Sprinkman (Kohler, Wis.) led the Falcons in the 60-meter dash at 8.59 in 26th place. Sprinkman was also the fastest Falcon in the 200-meter dash at 28.50 in 47th place.

Senior Morgan Marnholtz (Merril, Wis.) finished 13th in the 400-meter dash at 1:04.46.

In the 3000-meter run, sophomore Rileigh Dunning (La Mesa, Calif.) clocked in at 13:27.23 in 35th place.

A pair of Falcons finished next to each other at the high jump. Junior Nicole Veldhorst (Cedar Grove, Wis.) finished tied for 10th place at 1.47 meters. Freshman Jordyn Schmidt (Manitowoc, Wis.) was right behind at 1.42 meters.

Junior Kathryn Schultz (Fredonia, Wis.) placed 27th at the long jump at 4.23 meters.

Morgan Marnholtz took a ninth-place finish at the triple jump at 9.87 meters.

At the shot put pit, Megan Curran led CUW with a toss of 10.90 meters.

The Falcons return to action on Jan. 25 at Carthage.
