Women's Tennis Takes in All-NACC Honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its All-Conference Teams and major award winners for women's tennis on Wednesday afternoon. The NACC champion Falcons collected two major honors with Ricki Budewitz claiming the NACC Player of the Year title and Steve Anschutz claiming the NACC Coaching Staff of the Year honor. CUW had four on the All-NACC Singles Team and three teams named to the All-NACC Doubles Team.

Steve Anschutz & Nolan Rademacher

The CUW coaching staff is claiming its fifth NACC Coaching Staff of the Year honor. This is the fourth time that Steve Anschutz has claimed the title for women's tennis.

Ricki Budewitz

A senior from Watertown, Wisconsin, Ricki Budewitz is claiming her second major NACC award after being named the 2018 NACC Freshman of the Year. She is also making her historic fifth-straight All-NACC Singles Team appearance. Budewitz is also the fifth Falcon to claim the title of NACC Player of the Year for women's tennis. Ricki Budewitz posted a perfect 8-0 record in the NACC at No. 1 singles in 2022.

Mallory Moen

A junior from Neenah, Wisconsin, Mallory Moen is on the All-NACC Singles Team for the third consecutive year. Moen went 6-1 in singles play in the NACC at 1-0 at No. 2 singles and 5-1 and No. 3 singles.

Cheyanne Phillips

A sophomore from Morris, Illinois, Cheyanne Phillips returned back to the All-NACC Singles Team after a stellar sophomore campaign. Phillips posted a 5-1 record at No. 4 singles this fall.

Ashley Samuta

A junior from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Ashley Samuta secured her third-straight selection onto the All-NACC Singles Team with a perfect 6-0 record at No. 2 singles.

As a team, the Falcons posted a 44-4 record in singles play within the NACC.

Ricki Budewitz & Ashley Samuta

The No. 1 doubles team of Ricki Budewitz and Ashley Samuta recorded a perfect 6-0 record in the NACC during the fall season. This is the third time that the duo earned All-NACC honors in doubles play.

Mia Andrae & Mallory Moen

The No. 2 doubles team of senior Mia Andrae of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and Mallory Moen are making their first combined appearance on the All-NACC Doubles Team. Moen made the team last year with Elizabeth Johnson. The duo posted a 5-2 record in the NACC, going 1-0 at No. 1 doubles and 4-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Cheyanne Phillips & Mya Werning

The No. 3 doubles duo of Cheyanne Phillips and sophomore Mya Werning of Watertown, Wisconsin, are making their first-ever appearance on an All-NACC Doubles Team. The team posted a perfect 7-0 record in the NACC, going 1-0 at No. 1 doubles and 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

This is only the second time in this program's storied history that all three doubles teams have claimed All-Conference honors, the other being the 2016-17 season.

CUW went 21-3 in doubles play in the NACC.

The six Falcons to claim All-NACC honors ties the program record with the 2021-22 and 2016-17 teams.

Olivia Heling of Lakeland was voted as the NACC Freshman of the Year. Heling went 2-7 for the Muskies at No. 1 singles. Ricki Budewitz defeated Heling in October, 6-1, 6-0.
