Women’s Tennis Topples IIT and CUC

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons tore through the "Land of Lincoln" on Saturday. The Falcons took a quick business trip to Chicago to smash the Scarlet Hawks, 8-1. Then flew back home to cage the Cougars of CUC, 8-1. The pair of victories send CUW to 2-2 on the year and 2-0 in the NACC.

The Falcons avenged the May loss to the Scarlet Hawks to start the morning.

Sophomore Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) and sophomore Cheyanne Phillips (Morris, Ill.) threw the first punch with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and junior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) sank the Scarlet Hawks, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles.

Senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and junior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) secured the doubles sweep with an 8-7 (3) victory.

Sophomore Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) mowed over Ella Brady at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Cheyanne Phillips swept away Smrithi Shreedhar at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Mia Andrae overwhelmed Akeyla Harper at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Mallory Moen mopped up Ashley Same at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Ashley Samuta sank Saumya Sukthankar at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-2.

The Falcons wasted no time after the victory and flew north to campus to take on the Cougars.

Junior Auden Pearson (Kaukauna, Wis.) and freshman Abigail Schwartz (Brookfield, Wis.) drew first blood at No. 3 doubles with an 8-1 victory.

Cheyanne Phillips and Mya Werning flipped the Maroon and Gold at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.

Mallory Moen won by retirement on court two.

Abigail Schwartz slashed Alexa Hoover at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Mia Andrae earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kamila Giza at No. 3 singles.

Auden Pearson popped Madison Perkins at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Peyton Morgan moved past Jessica Parker at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3.

Ricki Budewitz bounded Heidi Hesse at No. 1 singles, 5-7, 6-1, 10-5.

The Falcons finish the weekend in Kohler, Wisconsin against Wisconsin Lutheran and St. Norbert.
