Women's Tennis Smacks St. Norbert in NACC Semifinals

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team took care of business on Friday afternoon in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Semifinals. The Falcons sank St. Norbert with a 5-0 victory and advanced to the NACC Tournament Finals at 15-6.

The team of senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and junior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) tore apart Emma Merrill and Hannah Starr at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory.

Sophomore Cheyanne Phillips (Morris, Ill.) and sophomore Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) folded Megan Pankow and Grace Peters at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.

Senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and junior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) sank Mallory Names and Grace McCune at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.

Cheyanne Phillips swept Grace Peters at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Mallory Moen also brought out the broom on court three against Megan Pankow at 6-0, 6-0.

Ricki Budewitz led Hannah Starr at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Ashley Samuta held a 6-1, 4-1 advantage at No. 2 singles, against Emma Merril.

Mia Andrae was up on Mallory Names at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 2-0.

Sophomore Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) was holding onto a 6-1, 1-1 advantage over Anna Krupka at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons will battle the Eagles of Edgewood on Sunday in the NACC Tournament Finals. Edgewood defeated Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday, 5-0. The Falcons picked up a 5-4 victory at Edgewood in September.
