Apazeller, Straehler named NSCAA All-Region

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin's Ashley Apazeller (Jr./ Jackson, Wis.) and Lauren Straehler (Sr./ Pewaukee, Wis.) earned All-Central region women's soccer honors as selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) earlier this week.  Apazeller was accorded second team honors while Straehler was named to the third team.  It was the second such honor for both players.

In total, the Northern Athletics Conference landed an unprecedented 10 individuals on the honor squads.  Aurora's Nicole Wolfe led the all-region selections as the lone NAC player on the first team.

The NAC Defensive Player of the Year, Aurora's Jenee Lange (Jr., D), NAC Offensive Player of the Year, Edgewood's Elaine Gerry (Sr., F), and Edgewood's Kristina Santaga (Sr., M) joined Apazeller on the second team.

Aurora's Britney Schenck, Lisa Bajkowski, and Nicci Bermudes were members of the third team alongside Straehler.

"I'm very proud to have these two players recognized on the All-Region teams," said coach Ryan Middendorf. "They are certainly well deserving and were instrumental in our team's success this year.  I believe having two players recognized among the best players within the region says a tremendous amount about the respect that our team has earned among coaches within the region.  This recognition is a tribute to both the talents of these players, the success of our team, and competitiveness of our conference."
