MEQUON, Wis.- Freshman Brittany Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) beat Dominican goalie Sara Stepanovich with less than two minutes remaining in regulation to give Concordia Wisconsin a 1-0 win in the quarterfinal round of the NAC women's soccer Championship. Senior Kelli Bolli (Eagle, Wis.) was credited with the golden assist.
CUW outshot the Stars 27-5 on the afternoon, but Stepanovich was incredible in goal for DomU, saving 11 shots including a first half penalty kick attempt.
"We expected a tight battle ... a win is a win and we have to keep advancing. I thought Dominican played very good soccer strategically and competitively so we will happily take this result," said Falcon mentor Ryan Middendorf.
Middendorf's team (15-4-0) will travel to Edgewood Tuesday for a NAC semi-final rematch with the Eagles, who defeated CUW 2-1 earlier this season.
