Warhawk booters defeat CUW women in overtime

WHITEWATER, Wis.-  This was a battle royal with opportunities galore for both sides, but it took an overtime goal by UW-Whitewater's Jenna Woodson to determine a winner in a 1-0 non-conference loss for Concordia Wisconsin on Monday evening.

The host Warhawks controlled first half action and only brilliant goal tending by CUW's Samantha Annacker (Sr./ Janesville, Wis.) kept the Falcons in the match.  Annacker managed seven first half saves.

Things evened out after the break with Ryan Middendorf's team gaining control of the midfield, equalizing the scoring chances, and just missing on a pair of golden opportunities.

UW-W, accorded Top 25 ranking in a National pre-season poll, improved to 3-3-0 on the season while the Falcons fell to 6-2-0.

Concordia, 3-0 in league play, hosts NAC foe Lakeland on Wednesday at 4:30 pm on the Fitting Field pitch.
