Middendorf looks to pick up the pace!
MEQUON, Wis.- Concordia Wisconsin women's soccer coach Ryan Middendorf addressed the issue of team speed in his off-season recruiting campaign, and based on early practices, it appears that his efforts have paid off.
"We have some players who can win the 50/50 balls now and people on the outside who will be the first one to the ball in space," said the veteran mentor.
"Ashley Apazeller (Junior/West Bend Wis.) was our fastest player but we had to play Ashley in the back most of last season and did not have anyone with her quickness in the middle or up front. Now we do."
Freshman Carley Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) is one of Middendorf's freshman recruits with enough speed to burn NAC defenders. "She puts pressure on a defense and gets past people in a hurry," smiled Middendorf.
