MEQUON, Wis.- This was an outstanding evenly played soccer contest from beginning to end with freshman Brittany Klumpp's second half goal off a beautiful assist from Carley Pfannerstill (Fr./ Grafton, Wis.)providing the margin of victory for CUW in a 1-0 win over #24 UW-Oshkosh.
Ryan Middendorf's side outshot the Titans 16-14 with both goalies credited with several tremendous saves. CUW's Samantha Anacker (Sr./ Janesville, Wis.) made the defensive stop of the match when she laid out to deflect a UW-Oshkosh bullet just before halftime.
The Titan's Nina Muzi was also stellar, leaping to knock away a pair of upper 90 blasts by Falcon attackers.
UW-O came in with an 8-1-4 record against some powerful opposition, but CUW never backed down while improving to 11-4-0 on the season.
"We played intelligently and with great heart thoughout the match," said Middendorf. "It seemed as though Anna Hirssig (So./ Rochester, Minn.) won every midfield ball in the air for us and our counter attacks were the product of good decisions. Everyone played well. This was one of the best wins I have been part of."
