Falcons Stampede Past Bluejays for First Home Win

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team picked up its first home win of the 2024 season, topping the Elmhurst Bluejays by a 12-2 score. Three different Falcons found the back of the net three times in the contest, marking the third such instance for Concordia this season.

The Falcons tallied goals in the opening and closing minutes of the first quarter, as junior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) scored 10 seconds into the match while senior Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) notched the team's second goal with 23 seconds remaining in the frame.

Gong kicked off the second quarter with another goal for Concordia, which would go on to see the Falcons outscore the Bluejays 4-0. Junior Ava Karlov (Naperville, Ill.), freshman Carolyn Bourgeault (Kenmore, N.Y.), and sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) represented Concodia's other three goal-scorers in the period, while senior Elliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) tallied her second of three total assists in the game.

The Falcons similarly dominated the second half, mirroring the 6-1 scoring margin of the opening two quarters. McCardle and Cardinale scored a pair of goals in the half, while junior Brenna Bienek (Shakopee, Minn.) and Gong notched scores in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

Freshman goaltender Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ont.) recorded four saves in the outing for the Falcons.

Concordia will look to reach .500 in its next battle against the 3-4 Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils on March 26.
