Foresters Flip Falcons

LAKE FOREST, Ill – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team fought hard at Lake Forest on Wednesday evening. The Foresters picked up the 18-6 victory to send the Falcons to 2-4.

The Foresters jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and scored the first two goals of the second quarter.

Sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard at the 8:45 mark of the second quarter to take advantage of a Lake Forest card.

CUW scored 19 seconds later off the stick of senior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) to cut into the lead.

The Black and Red held an 11-2 lead at halftime.

Senior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) scored a pair of goals in the third quarter, with junior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) assisting on the second goal.

The Falcons scored the final two goals of the game with Katelyn Cardinale scoring on a free position shot and junior Brenna Bieniek (Shakopee, Minn.) scoring the final goal of the game.

Freshman Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) collected seven saves on Wednesday.

The Concordia defense forced 11 turnovers for the Foresters and was led by junior Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) with two.

The Foresters held a 36-18 advantage in shots on the day.

Katelyn Cardinale won six draw controls for the Falcons against LFC.

The Falcons look to bounce back against Elmhurst at home on Saturday.
