Women's Lacrosse Gets Back in Win Column at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team picked up its second win of the season on Saturday afternoon, topping the Franklin Grizzlies 16-8 in the schools' second-ever meeting.

After Franklin snatched the first goal of the day, the Falcons put together an impressive scoring stretch to close the first quarter, taking a 5-1 lead into the second period of play. Five different Falcons registered goals, but senior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) was the lone goal-scorer to also pick up an assist in the quarter. Junior Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) also took responsibility for one of the Concordia goals, which stood as her fifth tally of the season.

The second frame served as the host for an abundance of scoring, as each team potted six goals in the quarter. After scoring once in the first, freshman Carolyn Bourgeault (Kenmore, N.Y.) tallied three of Concordia's goals in the quarter, while junior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) found a pair of scores of her own. Two games after setting a program record with eleven goals, sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) found the second of her four total goals in the quarter as well.

After taking an 11-7 advantage into the fourth quarter, the Falcons scored the only three goals of the third quarter, two of which came off the stick of senior Elliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.).

Cardinale and Fuchs represented Concordia's scoring duo in the fourth quarter, securing a 16-8 victory for the team's second win of the season.

Freshman goaltender Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) recorded two saves in the contest.

The Falcons will look to build a winning streak in their next outing on March 20 against the 4-2 Lake Forest Foresters.
