Falcons Knockout Boxers in Milestone Victory

MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team notched its fourth win of the season on Thursday afternoon, ousting the Pacific Boxers 18-1. The Falcons held control of the game from its beginning, scoring ten goals in the first quarter before taking responsibility for the match's first 13 scores.

The victory was the 100th career victory for the CUW women's lacrosse program and the 100th for head coach Emily Schoessow.

Freshman Carolyn Bourgeault (Kenmore, N.Y.) found the first goal of the game 24 seconds into the contest, ultimately finding three more by the end of the opening frame. Senior Elliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) doubled the Falcons' lead just a few minutes later before tying a career-high with three assists in just the first quarter. Sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) added a trio of goals for the Falcons in the period, while seniors Anna Gong (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) each contributed a goal. In total, the outburst left the Falcons with 10 goals after the first 15 minutes of play, standing as the highest-scoring quarter in program history.

Gong and Bourgeault found additional goals for Concordia in the second period of play while freshman Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) put away her first career goal, all of which left the Falcons with a 13-0 lead after the first half. The two squads traded goals in the third quarter, as Pacific struck the scoreboard for the first time before Cardinale tallied her fourth of the game to restore the 13-goal advantage.

Concordia further padded its lead in the final 15 minutes of play, which saw senior Abby McGue (St. Louis, Mo.) score the first two goals of her career. Adding to the parade of first-time goal-scorers was sophomore Juliana Beadle (Franklin, Wis.) with 5:32 remaining in play, while Cardinale notched her fifth of the game in the period as well. The performance marked the fourth five-goal game of her career and her second of the 2024 campaign.

Sophomore Delainey McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) recorded her first career assist. Eliana Fuchs tied her career-high with three assists in the victory and also led the contest with eight draw controls.

Freshman goaltender Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) earned her fourth career win in the contest.

Junior Brenna Bieniek (Shakopee, Minn.) led the contest with five ground balls to tie her career high. She also led the contest with four caused turnovers.

The Falcons will aim for four wins in five games in their next outing against the 7-1 Carroll Pioneers on April 2.
