MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's lacrosse team fell to 1-3 on the year with an 18-5 loss against the Firebirds of Carthage College.

Carthage jumped to a quick 4-0 lead before junior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) put the Falcons on the board with a shot that beat the goalie. Freshman Carolyn Bourgeault (Kenmore, N.Y.) assisted on the McCardle goal.

At half, the score favored the Firebirds, 9-1.

In the third quarter, the Falcons scored two-straight as senior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.), on an assist from fellow senior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.), gave the Falcons their second goal of the day. The second goal came less than two minutes later as sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) found the back of the net off the free position opportunity.

Then, in the opening moments of the fourth quarter, Savannah Schweiger would find the cutting Katelyn Cardinale, who, with the ball, once again found the back of the net for her second goal of the day.

The final Falcon goal came with 3:32 left in the fourth as Kami McCardle tallied her second goal, and Katelyn Cardinale recorded the assist.

In the effort, Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) had a team-high three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Sophomore Delainey McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) and Katelyn Cardinale also recorded two ground balls.

Behind the pipes, freshman Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ontario) recorded six saves.

Offensively, Katelyn Cardinale and Kami McCardle both had two goals, while Cardinale and Savannah Shweiger each registered a team-high two assists.
