Women's Lacrosse Ousted by Aurora

MONTGOMERY, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team took a 19-5 loss to the Aurora Spartans on Saturday afternoon, falling in its conference opener. Junior Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.) led the Falcons' offense in the outing, scoring twice to secure her fourth multi-goal performance of the season.

The Spartans rattled off a quick series of goals to open the contest, taking a 5-0 lead into the second quarter. After an additional goal to open the frame, Concordia struck in response just 21 seconds later. Sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) potted her 35th goal of the season to put the Falcons on the scoreboard, and junior Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) found the back of the net just a few minutes later.

An Aurora scoring surge restored the lead in the sequence that followed, but McCardle gave Concordia the last goal of the half to set the score at 9-3.

Exiting the first half, the Spartans compiled another scoring run to seize further control of the game, but the Falcons picked up a quick pair of goals to open the fourth quarter. McCardle and senior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) represented Concordia's scoring duo in the frame, finding the back of the net just under 90 seconds apart.

After Aurora tallied a series of goals to close the game, the final score was marked at 19-5 in favor of the Spartans.

Freshman goaltender Parks Cawthray (Oakville, Ont.) stopped eight shots for the Falcons in the outing.

Concordia will look to get back into the win column on April 10 against the 5-6 Edgewood Eagles.
