Falcon women rally past Marian 57-53

Fond du lac

Concordia avoided an early season upset by rallying from 7 points down to sneak past host Marian this evening.

The Sabres trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half but cut the deficit to 3 at the break and appeared to be in control after taking a 44-37 lead with less than ten minutes remaining.

That's when the Falcon attack came back to life with Katie Luethe and Tiffany Hendrickson supplying most of the offense while the CUW defense forced error after error down the stretch.

Freshman Luethe led the way with 20 points and Hendrickson added 13.

CUW (2-2) did not shoot well from the field (35%) or the free throw line (10-20) but still managed the W by holding Marian to 30% shooting and forcing 28 turnovers.
The stretch drive leadership was provided by senior guard Melanie Kulibert who hit a big 3 to start the comeback and added 2 rebounds, an assist, and a steal in the late going.
