Marian women surprise Falcons 71-65

Mequon

Visiting Marian turned the tables on Concordia last night, edging the Falcons 71-65 just one week after CUW had scored a victory on the Sabre's court.

To say the upstart visitors shot well would be an understatement. Marian cagers launched 20 3 point efforts and were successful on 12 of them, at least half of those as the shot clock wound down. Concordia, on the other hand, was just 5-21 from beyond the arc.

The Sabres led 31-28 at the break but had to rally after CUW scored seven straight points to take a 48-42 lead with just nine minutes remaining.

Center Kendall Kerns led Concordia with 20 points while freshmen Katie Luethe and Megan Bernardoni added 12 each. The victorious Sabres got terrific shooting from Liz Zutz (22 points including 4-4 on 3 point efforts) and Alexis Becker (21 ). Stacey Brunner- Jones' Falcons fell to 2-4 on the season.
