Men's Hockey Rocks the Raiders

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team took the first round of the battle for the Lake Michigan Cup on Friday night. The Falcons improved to 2-4-0 on the young season and 1-2-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with a 2-1 victory.

The Falcons scored in the second minute of the game when freshman Devon Savignac (Sudbury, Ontario) stole the puck and found sophomore Mi-Kwan Tallman (Edmonton, Alberta) by the net and Tallman scored the opening goal.

The Raiders tied the game at the 8:09 mark of the first period on the power play.

The game-winning goal was scored as time expired in the second period as freshman Levi Carter (Keremeos, British Columbia) deflected in a shot from Derek Humphreys two seconds into the power play off a secondary assist to freshman Jack Guvenal (Georgetown, Ontario).

The Raiders tossed 13 shots on junior Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) but the Michigander stood tall and stopped all of the shots in the period.

Both teams finished with 32 shots on Friday. Derek Humphreys led the flock with five shots.

Gabe Rosek recorded 31 saves in the victory.

The Falcons look to reclaim the Lake Michigan Cup on Saturday in Milwaukee.
