Men's Hockey ties for NCHA best with nine on All-Academic Team

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team had nine players earn All-Academic honors by the NCHA, the league office announced Thursday. The nine selections for the Falcons was tied for a league-best, as St. Scholastica also had nine players earn the honors.

In order to be selected to the NCHA All-Academic team, a student-athlete must post a grade point average of 3.3 or higher. Also, a player must be of at least sophomore status. All-in-all, 63 players were selected to the All-Academic Team for the 2014-15 season.

Senior Matt Gates (Palatine, Ill.) earned his second straight selection for the Falcons, earning the honors in his only two seasons with the team. The other group of second-year selections was a group of six players, which included Lawrence Childs (Silver Springs, Md.), Jake Hebda (Firestone, Colo.), Buster Hebda (Firestone, Colo.), Trammell Lynes (Edmonton, Alberta), Eli Riddle (Blissfield, Mich.) and Devin Stuermer (Milwaukee, Wis.).

The Falcons also had three sophomores earn the honors for the first time in Tanner Bull (Brooklin, Ontario) and Josh Herrington (Aurora, Ontario).
