Scarlet Hawks Snap Women's Volleyball Winning Streak

CHICAGO – The winning streak came to an end on Friday night for the CUW women's volleyball team. The Falcons had won their last eight matches before falling on Friday night, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22, 25-14. The loss sends CUW into a tie for first place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference at 10-1.

The Scarlet Hawks took early leads in the first two sets and were able to hold onto 25-21 and 25-23 victories.

The Falcons fought back in the third set and forced a fourth set after closing the set on a 3-0 run.

Illinois Tech took an early lead in the fourth set and never looked back to take the set and the match. Both teams had a negative hitting percentage in the set.

Junior Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) led CUW with 10 kills on 19 attacks.

Senior Erika Natzke (Morton Grove, Ill.) and freshman Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.) led the match with 12 digs each.

Senior Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) led the match with 19 assists.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Saturday against St. Norbert.
