Falcons Make it Rain Against Rockford

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW volleyball team took on the Rockford Regents in the first game of their weekend doubleheader.

Set one saw a 25-18 victory by the Flock. Sophomore Lauren Shroba (Bolingbrook, Ill.) led the Falcons with four kills in the set. 

Senior Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) recorded 10 assists in the set while fellow senior Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) led with eight digs.

The Blue and White put the pedal to the metal in sets two and three with finals scores of 25-10 and 25-12 respectively.

Set two saw the Falcon offense catch fire with 16 total kills in 29 swings for a .414 hitting percentage. Senior Erika Natzke (Morton Grove, Ill.) recorded six assists in the second set with Chaussee adding five more digs to her total. Sophomore Emma Essex (Hoffman Estates, Ill) recorded four of the five Falcon aces in the second set. Three of her aces came in the last eight straight points for the Blue and White. 

The set was ended by freshman Mickenzi Benter (Appleton, Wis.) on a kill that was assisted by freshman Abby Proefrock (Grafton, Wis.).  

The flock closed out the match in the third set and ended the match with a 3-0 sweep. Shroba and senior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) led the Blue and White with four kills in the final set. The Falcons scored 17 of their 25 points in the third set and 57 of their 75 points in the match.

Shroba led the flock with 10 kills. She added one block assist to her total. Lee recorded 22 of the 44 Falcon assists in the match and Essex recorded six of the eight aces.

The Blue and White face the Cougars of Concordia Chicago to wrap up their alumni weekend on Saturday.
