Women's Tennis snaps losing streak with victory over Dubuque

MADISON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin snapped an eight-match losing streak with a convincing 8-1 non-conference victory over the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon at Reindahl Park.

The Falcons took all three doubles points and won five of the possible six singles points to win for the first time in two months. They gave up just six points in their four of their five singles victories.

The freshmen duo of Michaela Wagner (Oswego, Ill.) and Alisia Macioch (South St. Paul, Minn.) controlled their No. 3 doubles opponents to the tune of an 8-1 victory. Junior Emily McCormick (Waukesha, Wis.) and freshman Elizabeth Carroll (Hartford, Wis.) earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.

During singles play, it was Wagner who shut down her No. 6 opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Sophomore Ashley Knoll (Wilmot, Wis.) won 6-0, 6-1, while Carroll won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Freshman Jessica Sapp (Memphis, Mich.) earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory against her No. 5 singles competitor and senior Kristine Weber (Rochester Hills, Mich.) picked up a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.

No. 3-seeded CUW returns to action on Tuesday with a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference first round matchup against No. 6 Dominican University.
