Women's Soccer rolls past Rockford to remain perfect in NACC play

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Finding the back of the net has been no problem for the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team since Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play began on September 21. The Falcons continued their offensive dominance Tuesday, shutting out Rockford University, 7-0.

Sophomores Emily Ciesielczyk and Carley Pfannerstill each netted two goals, while freshman Erin Roepke (St. Louis, Mo.) added a goal and three assists to lead the Falcons. Junior Anna Hirssig (Rochester, Minn.) and sophomore Brittany Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) also scored in the dominating performance. Freshmen Ariana Worthing (Saginaw, Mich.) and Alyssa Schmitt (Cedar Grove, Wis.) each played a half in net for CUW as Worthing still hasn't allowed a goal in NACC play.

Ciesielczyk (Waukesha, Wis.) got the Falcons rolling, recording the first two goals of the contest. She scored 7:26 into play on an unassisted tally and then beat the keeper again at the 13:40 mark off a pass from freshman Halie Schieffer (Belgium, Wis.), giving CUW an early 2-0 lead.

The Falcons added three more first half goals, building a comfortable 5-0 lead after 45 minutes of play. Hirssig scored her ninth goal of the season on a header, coming off a corner kick from Roepke at the 21:01 mark. Pfannerstill would make the score 4-0 in favor of CUW with 9:56 remaining in the first half, scoring off a Hirssig assist. Klumpp recorded the final tally of the first half, scoring with just 37 seconds remaining in the half. Pfannerstill and Roepke were each credited with assists on the final first-half goal.

Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) would go on to net her team-leading 11th goal of 2013 at the 59:09 mark. She currently ranks tied for first in goals scored in the conference, while also ranking second in points (25).

Roepke finished off her career day with her first career collegiate goal at the 71:06 mark. She scored off a pass from sophomore Tehani Dee (West Bend, Wis.), making the final count 7-0 in favor of CUW.

The Falcons held a big advantage in shots as they fired 29 compared to just three for Rockford. RU goalkeeper Alyssa Nicholson was busy all afternoon as she made 12 saves, while Schmitt stopped the only shot Rockford put on goal. Pfannerstill's nine shots led all players.

CUW (7-4-0, 5-0-0 NACC) will put its unblemished conference record on the line Saturday when they visit seven-time defending NACC regular season champion Aurora University. The match, which is the second part of a men's-women's doubleheader, is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Vago Field in Aurora, Ill. Live stats will be available at CUWFalcons.com.
