Pfannerstill nets two as Women's Soccer cruises to NACC win over Lakeland

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Sophomore forward Carley Pfannerstill scored her team-leading fifth and sixth goals of the season to lead the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team past Lakeland College, 4-0, in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.

The Falcons scored two goals in each half en route to the shutout victory. CUW has now played 180:00 minutes of conference action and hasn't allowed a goal in that span. Sophomore forward Brittany Klumpp (Rubicon, Wis.) also scored Tuesday, while the fourth CUW score was an own goal hit in by a Lakeland defender.

Klumpp got the scoring started by recording her second goal of the season at the 13:37 mark. Junior Anna Hirssig (Rochester, Minn.) was credited with an assist on the goal that gave the Falcons a 1-0 advantage. Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) would push the lead to 2-0 with 18:01 remaining in the opening half, tallying her first score off a pass from sophomore Emily Ciesielczyk (Waukesha, Wis.).

Pfannerstill got her second scoring mark just 4:33 into the second half, this time scoring off an assist from Halie Schieffer (Belgium, Wis.). Schieffer's assist was her first career collegiate point and helped put the Falcons up 3-0. The fourth and final tally was an own goal off a corner kick from CUW, resulting in the 4-0 final.

CUW dominated possession the entire match as they outshot the Muskies, 26-2. The Falcons took 14 shots in the opening half and added 12 more over the second 45 minutes of play, while LC recorded just one shot in each stanza. CUW put 13 of those 26 shots on goal, while Lakeland finished with one on goal.

Freshmen Ariana Worthing (Saginaw, Mich.) and Alyssa Schmitt (Cedar Grove, Wis.) each played a half at goalkeeper for the Falcons. Worthing earned the win, while Schmitt made one save in the second half. Muskie keeper Jessica Carter finished with nine saves.
