Mequon, Wis -- The defending WIAC Champion Warhawks (1-0) showed off their considerable skills in the process of handing CUW (0-1) a 5-1 lesson Thursday afternoon at Fitting Field.

UW-Whitewater assumed control by taking a 2-0 halftime lead on scores by Pamela Lisowe and Riley Kirchoff. Emily Gerber was credited with assists on both tallies.

Alyssa Chamberain made it 3-0 less than three minutes into the second half before Concordia got their only goal on Kelli Wittenberg's (Sr. Union Grove, Wis) blast just one minute later.

Wittenberg carried the ball 40 yards up the left side and then used her left foot to beat the Warhawk goalie. Ashley Appazeller (So. West Bend West) got her first assist of the season on that goal.

Any thoughts of a Falcon comeback were squelched when Laren Nashleanas upped the Warhawk cushion to 4-1 at 56:33. The visitors added their final tally at 75:18.

UW-W owned the stats, piling up an 18-8 shot differential. The Warhawks' Jordan Myers needed to make only two saves while CUW's Samantha Anacker was credited with 9 stops. Ryan Middendorf's Falcons travel to Rockford for their NAC conference opener on Tuesday, September 6th.
