Falcons Finish 2023 Against Dubuque

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team closed the calendar on 2023 on Monday night in a non-conference battle against the Spartans of the University of Dubuque. The Spartans secured the 75-39 victory to improve to 6-4 and send the Falcons to 4-6.

After a pair of Dubuque baskets, the Falcons tied the game at four with baskets from junior Aubrey DeBauch (Gillett, Wis.) and senior Erin Viergutz (Clintonville, Wis.). The Spartans inched away and drained a buzzer-beating three-point basket to take a 26-12 lead after the first 10 minutes.

The second quarter proved to be a defensive battle with the two teams scoring a combined 18 points. Erin Viergutz scored four of the seven points for the Falcons in the quarter.

Sophomore Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) sank a three-point basket to cut the deficit to 41-24, but that is the closest the Falcons could get.

Concordia Wisconsin was led by Erin Viergutz with 19 points. She also added eight rebounds.

The Falcons will return to action again in 2024, when they resume Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play at Marian on Jan. 3.
