Women’s Basketball Falls Short Against Warriors

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team took a close loss to the NACC-leading Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors on Saturday night by a slim 58-50 reading on the scoreboard. Junior forward Aubrey DeBauch (Gillet, Wis.) led all Falcons with 12 points in the contest.

The Warriors created separation from Concordia in the first quarter of play, taking a ten-point lead into the second frame. The Falcons began to crawl back into contention in the minutes leading up to the break, finishing the first half on a 9-4 run to draw within five. Sophomore Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) and freshman Gracie McNabb (Grafton, Wis.) each contributed a three-pointer for Concordia in the quarter.

The Falcons pulled within three to open the second half after a jump shot from junior Lindsay Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.). However, the Warriors kicked off a scoring run of their own that left them with a nine-point advantage at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Senior Erin Viergutz (Clintonville, Wis.) drew the Falcons' deficit to seven points in the fourth. However, the margin proved to be insurmountable, as Wisconsin Lutheran took the 58-50 victory.

Despite the loss, the Falcons still managed to put up a strong fight against the Warriors, forcing their slimmest margin of victory of the season.

Defensively, Concordia forced nine turnovers in the contest while allowing Wisconsin Lutheran to shoot at only 11.1% from the three-point line.

The Falcons will be back in action on February 7 against the 14-7 MSOE Raiders.
