Women's Basketball Wins at Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team was victorious on the road on Wednesday night at Lakeland. The Falcons held on for a 63-60 victory over the Muskies. The victory propels the Falcons to 9-11 on the year and to 8-3 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Senior Aubrey DeBauch (Gillett, Wis.) started the scoring after she sprinted down the floor after stealing the ball on Wednesday night.

The Muskies scored the next five points to build an early lead.

Another layup from Aubrey DeBauch gave the Falcons the lead again at 7-5.

Concordia used a 7-0 run to push the lead up to 18-12 with 1:46 left in the first quarter. The run with capped off with an old-fashioned three-point play from sophomore Andrea Butterbrodt (Green Bay, Wis.).

Lakeland made a free throw in the final seconds of the first quarter to take a 21-10 lead into the second quarter.

The Falcons stormed back at the start of the second quarter with another 7-0 run over the course of two minutes.

Lakeland cut into Concordia's lead to end the second quarter, but the Falcons held a 31-30 lead at the break.

The Birds broke open the game to start the third quarter. With the game tied at 33, the Falcons scored 10 straight points to lead 43-33 with 5:46 left in the quarter. Aubrey DeBauch had four of the points in the scoring spree.

A pair of free throws from Andrea Butterbrodt elevated the lead to 49-37.

The Muskies nibbled away at the CUW lead and cut the Concordia lead to 51-46 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lakeland got within one possession, but senior Liliana Guerra (Yorkville, Ill.) scored on back-to-back possessions to put the Falcons up by eight.

Aubrey DeBauch capitalized on a layup and a free throw to push the lead back up to 59-48 with 7:11 left.

The Muskies put up a resilient comeback put a pair of layups from Aubrey DeBauch iced the game for the Falcons.

Aubrey DeBauch fried the fish with 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Andrea Butterbrodt brought in 13 points to go with her six rebounds.

Liliana Guerra finished with 11 points in the victory and sophomore Gracie McNabb (Grafton, Wis.) grabbed eight rebounds against the Muskies.

The Falcons feasted in the paint with 42 points in the victory.

Speed was lethal for the Birds with a 12-4 margin in fast-break points.

The Falcons look to continue their winning ways against Rockford on Saturday.
