Cain Breaks Record Again; Falcons Soar at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team posted another strong performance on Saturday at the St. Norbert Invitational. The Blue and White finished in third place with 97 points on Saturday.

Junior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) polished off his shot put crown on Saturday and broke his own school record at 15.33 meters. He was also the champion in the discus throw at 45.18 meters. Cain was also sixth in the hammer throw at 44.29 meters. He had career-best marks in all three competitions. 

Junior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.) earned the silver medal in the 1500-meter run at 4:16.72. Freshman Joshua Peterson (Palatine, Ill.) finished in fourth place at 4:33.08.

At 59.77, was senior Preus Hasselbrook Missoula, Mont.) in the 400-meter hurdles in third place.

Freshman Austin Thur (Bloomer, Wis.) finished third in the triple jump at 12.55 meters and had the best mark for Concordia in the long jump in eighth place at 5.93 meters.

Senior Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at 52.87.

The 5000-meter run saw freshman Richard Schaefer (Ingleside, Ill.) secure a fourth-place finish at 16:30.51.

Freshman Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) collected a fifth-place finish in the steeplechase at 11:20.97.

Sophomore Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) posted a fifth-place finish in the javelin at 45.94 meters.

Junior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) finished the 200-meter dash in seventh place at 24.42. He was also fifth in the 400-meter dash at 53.29.

Freshman Keegan Palm (Sycamore, Ill.) led a trio of Falcons in sixth place at 12.80 in the 100-meter dash. Freshman Colin Rerecich (Henderson. Nev.) and freshman Alex Tran were at 12.85 and 13.76 respectively. Palm also place fourth in the pole vault at 3.17 meters.

Senior Emmett Williams (Hartford, Wis.) was the fastest Falcon in the 800-meter run in seventh place at 2:08.71. Just ahead of freshman Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) in eighth place at 2:09.77.

Sophomore Michael Brookshire (Valley Springs, Calif.) finished the decathlon in third place with 2989 points.

The Falcons closed the day with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with the team of William Ebel, Easton Becker, freshman Jack Ramstack (Colgate, Wis.) and Joshua Peterson.

CUW has one last competition before the NACC Championships on Friday at Benedictine.
