MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's soccer team earned a point in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference race with a 2-2 tie against the Regents of Rockford.
The Falcons struck first when senior Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.) knocked the ball over the keepers' head off a feed from senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.).
That goal gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Regents scored 59 seconds into the second half to tie the match.
Junior Jacob Fuson (San Diego, Calif.) ran past four defenders and landed a short-angled shot in the 76th minute to give CUW the lead again for his first goal as a Falcon.
The Regents leveled the match again in the 84th minute.
The match was saved by freshman Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) when the Regents had a breakaway in the final minute of the match and Munoz made a diving save to preserve the tie.
Munoz finished the match with six saves.
The Falcons finished with a 26-14 advantage in shots on Saturday.
The 26 shots are the highest on the season for CUW.
Jacob Fuson led the flock with six shots, five of those on the net.
The Falcons continue their tough schedule on Wednesday when MSOE travels north. The Raiders will enter the match in first place in the NACC at 5-0-0 and 15 points.
