Unbeaten Streak Comes to an End

CHICAGO – The CUW men's soccer unbeaten streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon at Illinois Tech. The Scarlet Hawks took a 3-2 victory to give the Falcons their first loss of the year at 4-1-3 on the year.

The Scarlet Hawks struck early on Saturday with a goal in the third minute.

Freshman Jaime Hernandez (Joliet, Ill.) found the equalizer in the 10th minute when he slipped past the defense off a cross from senior Miguel Garcia (Batavia, Ill.).

A goal in the 18th minute gave IIT a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

Jaime Hernandez struck again in the 51st minute to once again tie the match when he tapped in a rebound.

However, the Scarlet Hawks scored the game-winning goal one minute later.

Freshman Jeremy Munoz (Milwaukee, Wis.) picked up his first collegiate loss in net.

Senior Mattson Wick (New Berlin, Wis.) recorded five saves in the second half.

The Falcons held a 25-20 advantage in shots on Saturday and were led by senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) with six.

CUW looks to shake off the loss on Wednesday night at the reigning NACC champions, St. Norbert.
