MEQUON, Wis. – The 2022-23 athletic year was another successful one for the Concordia Wisconsin Athletic Department. The Falcons won and contended for conference championships in many sports and put together an impressive list of great achievements. As in years past, the Department of Athletic Communications tries to sort through all the great moments and give you, the fans, top stories from the past year.

The list of stories was compiled by the Department of Athletic Communications and, like all lists, is subject to debate. The top stories will be revealed over the next few days, with stories being released on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The top story will be released on August 4.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the CUW men's soccer team earned a share of the NACC regular title after an eventful series of results around the conference. The Falcons picked up the 4-1 win over Lakeland, while Aurora lost and MSOE tied, slotting the Falcons into a three-way tie for first place.

In Concordia's matchup, the Falcons struck first with a goal in the sixth minute from senior Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.) from 12 yards out off assists from senior Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.) and senior Will King (Maidenhead, G.B.).

The Muskies responded with their own goal in the 21st minute, tying the game 1-1.

19 seconds later, CUW freshman Carson Kelly (Fond du Lac, Wis.) retook the lead for the Falcons. Nine minutes later, in the 30th minute, Nick Hummel extended the CUW lead to 3-1 off a pass from Ivan Cuellar.

In the 63rd minute, the Falcons struck again, as Nick Hummel found the back of the net with a header courtesy of a cross from fellow senior Gilberto Gomez (Zion, Ill.).

Lakeland was held scoreless in the second half as the Falcons took the 4-1 victory, earning them a share of the NACC regular season title, their fourth in program history, joining the 2015, 2017, and 2020 teams.
