Sytsma earns NSCAA All-Region honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Wednesday, Concordia Wisconsin Junior Kyle Sytsma (Antioch, Ill.) was named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Third team.

This the 16th-consecutive year that one of head coach Tom Saleska's student-athletes has received NSCAA All-Region honors.

Sytsma, an All-Northern Athletics Conference First Team selection helped CUW finish 13-6-1 overall and 9-1-1 in conference play. The Falcons earned the No. 2 seed in the NAC Tournament, and a first round bye, before their season ended with a 2-0 loss on their home turf (Fitting Field) to MSOE.

Sytsma, junior teammate Jacob Pope (Antioch, Ill.), and junior CUW defender Jason Rogers (Glendale, Wis.) were also named to the Wisconsin All-State Team on the first, second. and third team squads respectively as announced by the NSCAA.

Sytsma led the Falcons with 27 points - 10 goals, seven assists - both team-highs. The 5-foot-11, right-footer tallied three game-winning goals this past season and ranked among the top student-athletes nationally in several statistical categories.

Pope played almost every minute for the Falcons, scoring four goals and adding three assists from his defensive position. Rogers, another stalwart defender, tallied four assists in 2011.

CUW's 13 victory campaign was the 18th-consecutive season of double-digit wins for Concordia Wisconsin men's soccer.
